At Regents Park we care a lot about the mental health of all those associated with the club. One of our core values is to try and inspire others to achieve great things but also to be kind and be a great person to those around you.
Mental health refers to our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. We all have mental health. Our mental health affects how we think, feel, and act. It also impacts on how we cope, interact and form relationships with others, as well as our daily functioning.
Below are 3 key ways sport can benefit your mental health
1. Improved mood - Research has found that people feel more awake, calmer and more content after physical activity.
2. Reduced stress - being active has been shown to reduce stress levels in comparison to those who do not exercise
3. Anxiety - it has also been shown that exercising can keep anxious thoughts at bay
One key thing about mental health is also checking up on others. If you have a friend who is a bit more quiet lately, or you feel like they are acting differently, ask them how they are.
Anybody who is feeling sad, anxious, or lonely can always do with a friend to check up on them and ask how they are. It’s always great to talk things out with a friend or family member.
We look forward to seeing you at Regents Park this Saturday!
