Coaching Boys & Girls - A Viewpoint From Coach Mauricio

Hi parents! Coach Mauricio here. Our goal at the club is to really make a positive difference in our players lives.

As a coach of both the Under 11 boys and Under 11 girls teams, I have noticed differences between the boys and girls. In this message, I will share some of my observations.

The differences between my Under 11 boys and Under 11 girls can be seen in terms of physicality, tactical awareness, discipline, and motivation.

My Rebels Boys tend to be more physical and aggressive, whereas my Rebels Girls tend to focus more on technique, finesse, and creative play. Boys are more likely to be motivated by the need to win, whereas girls may be motivated by the experience of playing and the joy of being part of a team.

During attacking situations, boys may be more likely to focus on direct play and physicality, whereas girls may be more likely to focus on passing, combination play, and creativity.

During defending situations, boys may be more likely to focus on physicality and aggressive tackling, whereas girls may be more likely to focus on positioning, anticipation, and reading the game.

I have recognized the individual differences between boys and girls, and this reflection is helping me to adjust my coaching style to suit the needs of each group and individual ensuring that each player is playing to their full potential and having a positive experience.

We would love to hear from parents!  What have you observed about the differences between boys and girls?

How do you think I and coach Ben can best address these differences? Please share your thoughts.

Thanks - Coach Mauricio
