Thoughts of the season by coach Ruben

Coach Ruben is the U14's coach and the club coordinator. We are extremely happy for having him with the Regent's Park FC coaching family and couldn't be more pleased to share his words and thoughts on this season.

A tough season

The team entered the Harrow league with much confidence. We soon found out that the games were much tougher than we expected as we often encountered opponents that were bigger than us and more often than not had an exceptional striker on their team.

Although defensively we were not the strongest we found it hard to handle strikers with pace and strength and that was one of our biggest challenges but credit to the team who stood up to challenge and made big improvements.

The most challenging part of the season however was having so many injuries all at the same time to important players, this made a huge difference to the quality of our game.

The team was very unfortunate with certain circumstances in a few tight games regardless, they never let their heads drop and always maintained a fighting spirit. Even though all the time in a lockdown they just kept working through zoom calls and individually to maintain fitness levels and to carry on improving.

I believe the boys have learned a lot during this tough period and it will only push them to be tougher, to work harder and motivate them to become even better individually and as a team.

I am really pleased with the team’s commitment and desire during the season and I am looking forward to the start of the new season.
