U12's Rebels fought hard

U12's Rebels are still finding their way at Market Road and last night was just an example of that they can do. They have never been so close to that win. Well done boys. Get some insights from the game with the match report from Coach Jamie.

U12 Rebels Match Report

FT:  Fusion 3 - Rebels 2

(HT: 1 - 1)

Goal Scorers

- Mylo

- Archie

Goal 1 - 0

From our attacking corner, they left a pacey player forwards and once they cleared the ball he sprang into life beating our defence for pace and slotting to the side of Sasha.

Goal 1 - 1

Great combination play from Joshua and Tomer before Tomer turned inside his marker to play it into Mylo who bundled the ball over the line for the equaliser.

Goal 1 - 2

Effectively right from kick off of the second half we pressed quickly to win possession before Tomer split 2 midfielders with a pass to find Archie outside the corner of the box who curled it into the far post.

Goal 2 - 2

The ball travelled into our final third towards Sasha who tried to play a pass to a teammate however we were too narrow, the presser handled it which the ref didn't see and he slotted it in by the near post.

Goal 3 - 2

With tired legs which affected our game strategy we gave away possession in our start zone which they capitalised on by rounding our defence and slotting away.

Positives:

We controlled possession, I believe most of the match was played inside fusions half.

We created plenty of chances and put 2 away. Finding new ways to be creative in the final third.

Intercepted a lot of through passes which tells me our anticipation has improved.

Things to improve:

Controlled aggression when tackling, we press quickly however we seem afraid to commit to tackles unless the ball is extremely clear to win.

Selfishness when chasing results, players tend to abandon our style with not much time left and become very individualistic.

Starting 7:

1 = Sasha

5 = John Nash

6 = Omar

4 = Joshua

2 = Tomer

3 = Archie

9 = Mylo

Reflection notes:

I need to be more creative in the ways I motivate the squad before games, difficult as most don't arrive until 10 minutes before kick off so I may need to send out game plans to parents before matches or change the warm up slightly?

I want to learn some new psychological techniques to ensure the boys can focus or concentrate for longer periods of time as when we switch off, it normally results in goals conceded.

Must find ways to improve fearlessness when defending!

Next up for the boys
